Getting there and away
Corbeny has no station; the stage delivers you to one of the best-connected cities on the route. Reims station has direct TGVs to Paris-Est in about 45 minutes, TER Fluo Grand Est trains to Châlons-en-Champagne, Épernay, Fismes and Laon, and services north-east to Charleville-Mézières and Sedan, with a link to the Champagne-Ardenne TGV station outside the city. The cathedral is a short walk from the station and directly on the pilgrim route.
What the season does
April to October. April to June and September are comfortable with lighter crowds; July and August bring coach parties to the cathedral; December fills the square with the Christmas market. The Randonneurs et Pèlerins 51 desk inside the cathedral operates from mid-March to 30 September, 2pm to 5pm daily, which is when you can get a stamp and their accommodation leaflet. The Champagne harvest also fills beds around the city: in 2026 picking was authorised from 12 August, the earliest on record, for about ten days.
Safety on this stage
The stage data notes the urban approach to Reims can be monotonous: long straight roads through suburbs, so pavements, crossings and traffic rather than paths. Before that the route is on farm tracks and D-roads across the Champagne plain; walk facing traffic. Hunting is open from mid-September over the fields. Reims itself needs ordinary city care, particularly around the station at night.
Water and food
Water is moderate. Corbeny has little, so buy the day's food there the evening before or at Berry-au-Bac if the route passes a shop. The villages on the plain are farming settlements. Reims has everything from the first suburbs onward, and cafés ring the cathedral square. No fountains on the route itself.
