Accessibility

Last updated: June 2026

Walk Via Francigena is committed to making our website and mobile app usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

What we do

  • Use semantic HTML and ARIA landmarks so screen readers can navigate the content.
  • Provide a visible "skip to content" link and keyboard-operable navigation and controls.
  • Maintain sufficient colour contrast for text and interactive elements.
  • Support text resizing and responsive layouts down to small screens.
  • Provide text alternatives for meaningful images and respect reduced-motion preferences.

Known limitations

Some interactive maps and elevation charts are inherently visual; where possible we provide the same information as text (distances, ascent, stage names) elsewhere on the page. We are continually working to improve these areas.

Tell us

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on walkviafrancigena.com or in the app, please let us know — we treat accessibility issues as bugs and will work to fix them. Email hello@walkviafrancigena.com with the page or screen and what went wrong, and we'll respond as quickly as we can.
